Hysteresis ii

17+25 /Percussion

TA cascading wave of cymbal samples is captured, warped, frozen, and timbrally transformed as the program data of a Casio synth is rewired. Forcing ROM address lines to either a 1 or 0 respectively triggers a 'freezing' effect or change in timbre, but both cannot simultaneously be active for fear of a short circuit. With variable resistance, at the edge of logic thresholds, where a 1 begins to look like a 0, the sample loop can 'break free from the freeze' and reactivate by true chance. The variety of percussive timbres and its related aleatoric 'unfreezing' is explored in a dance of pivot choices and electrical temperament.

Holding on/Letting go

2+27+29 /M.Str

Chord played on 2+27+29/M.Str that's been captured by V+22. Teetering on the threshold, subtle changes in resistance causes a drastic shift in one of two directions, some notes are captured, others released.

13+10+28, 31+27+29 /Re.Org

Very unstable patch- four connections, each in their astable region. Pressing a key produces one of a few sounds. Subtle changes in resistance between each connection changes the likelihood of a sound.

Either it happens or it does not

'Flute' chord that slowly shifts in harmony. A momentary connection between D3-D7 + V triggers an event which causes all voices to independently gliss up, gliss down, or not change at all. The interval of the gliss depends on the D line connected.
